Meleko Mokgosi at CTA, Spring 2018

CTA students will speak with artist and teacher Meleko Mokgosi about his figurative and text-based painting practice and his new research-based writing projects. Mokgosi’s work engages history painting and cinematic tropes to uncover notions of colonialism, democracy, and liberation across African history.

Recent solo exhibitions at the Fowler Museum at UCLA, Williams College Museum of Art, The Memorial Art Gallery and Rochester Contemporary Art Center, Jack Shainman Gallery, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. Work included in the public collections of The Studio Museum in Harlem, the Hammer Museum, and the Colby College Museum of Art.
